Four Secrets

There are some things you never say out loud, even though you know they are true. If you utter these secrets people can easily misunderstand you. Or maybe you might decide they aren't really. So you keep your mouth shut, and they remain secrets.

During this last year there have been some things about launching a church that I knew were true, but I never said them out loud. I might be misunderstood. I might be to bold or out there. So I kept these as secrets.

However, now I think there value out way the risks. I think these secrets are true, and I'm willing to risk being misunderstood. So I've decided to tell all! Here are four secrets that launch great movements and contagious Churches.

The Secret About the Cause

"Commitment to the cause first and each other second.

Great teams and movements are always clear about the cause. A lot of other stuff may get fuzzy, but the cause is always very clear.

The Secret about Community

"Not knowing when we are working and when we are playing.

There’s a line but you can barely find it. This is a place people want to be when they get to experience it.

The Secret about Chaos

"It looks like craziness, but there is a method to the madness.

There is something so free about chaos. We all need it, want it, and even desire it, but rarely feel we have permission to participate in it. If purpose and chaos can coexist. Wow!

The Secret about Creating Culture

"We REALLY are going to change the world.

Tremendous sacrifice is the norm. Why? Because of a belief that this might just be the church that actually does change the world! A vibe that we are up to something big and something special. This is not something prideful but in fact carefully making sure that God gets all the credit.

I have more secrets.
